JUST TRUST HIM

Hope for the Journey

JUST TRUST HIM

As I was taking my dog for a walk, he kept trying to run away from me. We normally have great walks, but this day he was extra excited for some reason and I had to tug his leash several times to slow him down. As we continued to walk, the Holy Spirit began to talk to me about why he needed to be on a leash. The leash is what keeps him safe from traffic, other animals, and dangerous things he could eat. It is also a way to keep him from attacking other people’s ankles. I’m sure Bowser is not the happiest dog when he is on a leash since he is used to being free in the back yard, but he gets to explore new things on our walk. I thought that was a great reminder, but I asked God what that had to do with me? He responded that sometimes we get angry when He tells us no or restricts us in different ways. We think God is being mean or trying to stop us from having fun. We have to remember our knowledge is limited and we can’t always see what’s near us, ahead of us, or the seen and unseen danger. God is an awesome father and knows our future and wants what is best for us. We simply have to believe His word that says, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11). He also promises in Psalm 91:3-7,  He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases.  He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you.  You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day or the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight. A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed. God is intentional with His words, so as He is leading, you can trust Him, follow Him, and enjoy the journey.
